Travelling out of Port Douglas on a daily basis, the Sailaway Outer Barrier Reef Tour offers the perfect snorkelling and sailing adventure for a eco minded participant. Ideally suited to those who can swim and have a spirit of fun and adventure, guests can enjoy an inspiring full day experience visiting an absolutely stunning Coral Cay on the Great Barrier Reef!

Sailaway VII is a stunning 25m sailing vessel of immaculate presentation. Focussing on small passenger numbers, this luxury sailing catamaran will allow lucky participants the opportunity to enjoy a day of quality snorkelling as well as performance sailing!

Sail along the coastline with views of the low land coastal World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest, past Snapper Island before heading to the Outer Reef.

Your day will include complimentary return coach transfers from Port Douglas accommodation, full use of quality snorkelling equipment, guided snorkel tour with Marine Biologist, glass bottom boat tour with commentary for additional coral viewing and visit to a spectacular Coral Cay!  Enjoy the aqua waters and stunning views marine water and stunning views. The day also includes a delicious gourmet lunch as well as morning and afternoon teas and refreshments.

Sailaway’s crew have a focus on sharing their passion for the marine environment with guests through reef interpretation and expert guiding. There is a team of qualified marine biologists onboard who provide informative commentay with entertaining reef presentations, allowing participants to fully appreciate the fragile marine environment and get an understanding of the marine life you will encounter.

Sailaway is the only operator who has access to the spectacular Coral Cays of Mackay & Undine Reefs. Enjoy exclusive use of the sites visited which are perfect for snorkelling. There are vast areas of coral gardens to explore at your own pace. Here in the shallow and protected waters , you see beautiful corals, giants clams, turtles and fish life, up close. Offering an ideal opportunity for taking underwater photos or watching the marine life in thier natural habitat.
Itinerary 7.30am - Check in to Sailaway office at the marina

7.45am - Board Sailaway VII – Berth D6
Tea & Coffee with Muffins and pastries on arrival
Welcome & Safety briefing

8.00am - Depart Port Douglas. Set sail.
Sailing to Mackay Cay Outer Barrier Reef
Reef Interpretation Talk by Marine BiologistSet sail from Port Douglas, sailing to Mackay Cay Outer Barrier Reef.

10.15am - Arrive at protected mooring at Mackay/Undine Cay – 1st Reef site
Snorkel safety briefing, distribution of snorkel equipment
Snorkelling activities commence,  snorkel over the coral gardens
A Guided Snorkel Tour is offered by onboard Marine Biologist
Transfer to the coral cay for exploring 
Glass Bottom Boat tour with commentary 

12.45pm - A Tropical Buffet Lunch is served on board
Move to 2nd reef location for the day e
After lunch, snorkelling cctivities resume, continue free time snorkelling

2.15pm - Afternoon Tea & Coffee, cakes and fresh fruit platter

2.30pm - Depart Mackay or Undine Cay to set sail to Port Douglas
Relax on board and enjoy the sailing aspect of the tour 

5.00pm - Arrive Port Douglas Marinas 
Coach transfer to Port Douglas or Cairns City & Northern Accommodation
