Rainforest, Waterfalls & Kuranda Village - Half Day 4WD Tour

This half day tour is ideal if you have limited time and want to escape the crowds and experience the true tropical rainforest and hidden wonders of Far North Queensland.

Your half day experience starts with a pick up from Cairns City or Northern Beaches accommodation, after introductions it’s time to start touring the regions highlights. Head north to the lower Barron Gorge National Park and visit Surprise Falls. This stunning waterfall is 243 metres high and set amongst the scenic, lower Barron Gorge.

Ascending the Lamb Range to the west of Cairns, stop at one of the region’s best kept secrets, the Lake Morris lookout. From here you will enjoy spectacular views over Cairns city and towards Green Island and Great Barrier Reef. Continue your journey, visiting Lake Morris and the Copperlode Dam. The dam is Cairns’ water supply and surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest-clad Mountains, it’s a unique and outstanding location to visit. Stretch your legs prior to crossing the dam wall where you will begin your four-wheel drive journey. The operator’s exclusive access permit sees you visiting restricted areas, not open to the general public. The logging tracks wind through rainforest and over the mountains of the Great Dividing Range. Stop to view ancient King Ferns before stopping at the Clohesy Boardwalk. Your Naturalist Guide will interpret the rainforest surrounds and introduce you to the Giant Strangler Fig tree, which is hundreds of years old.

Your next stop is Kuranda Village; here you will enjoy a short driving tour of the village before continuing on to the World Heritage Listed Barron Gorge National Park for more spectacular photo opportunities! Witness the mighty Barron Falls and the stunning Wrights Lookout.

Finally, after a fun and exciting day of touring both pristine rainforest and the famous Kuranda Village, your tour concludes; heading back towards Cairns via the Wet Tropics World Heritage drive down along the picturesque Kuranda range. Stop at the breathtaking Henry Ross lookout before arriving back into Cairns or Cairns Northern Beaches accommodation.
