This day tour commences with collection from your accommodation in Cairns before your board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a breathtaking one and a half hour journey through the rainforest clad mountains and stunning Barron River Gorge where eventually you will arrive into tropical Kuranda Village Station. Once in Kuranda you will enjoy some free time to explore the quaint village like atmosphere including the world famous Kuranda markets – entry and a guided tour of the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is included.
After enjoying your free time inclusion in Kuranda Village, it’s on to Rainforestation Nature Park, boasting 40 hectares of gardens and rainforest set amidst World Heritage Rainforest. Here a collection of unique experiences awaits you. Ride an amphibious Army Duck through the rainforest, where an experienced driver/guide will explain the mysteries of the ancient ferns and trees and spot a variety of native fauna normally difficult to see. Meander through the Tropical Fruit Orchard featuring over 40 local and international exotic, tropical fruit trees. Visit the Koala and Wildlife Park and come face to face with Crocodiles, hand feed Barramundi, Kangaroos and Wallabies. There is also the opportunity to view other native species, including Rainforest Pythons, Cassowaries and Dingoes. You may also take the opportunity to have a Koala photograph taken (optional expense).
In the rainforest amphitheatre witness the dynamic performance of the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers. The amphitheatre is a totally natural setting - no special effect or lighting is used - the rainforest serves as the theatre walls and the sounds of the forest and the didgeridoo create the backing music! The Dreamtime Walk provides a comprehensive introduction to Aboriginal and Island culture and history with practical experiences including boomerang lessons and spear throwing.
Included in your day is a delicious lunch. Enjoy a delicious menu selection lunch at Rainforestation's Restaurant in a lovely setting overlooking the rainforest
At the end of your fun filled experience at Rainforestation Nature Park we will return to Cairns from Kuranda Village via the Skyrail ‘Rainforest Cableway’! Here you will enjoy a bird’s eye view of pristine World Heritage Rainforest with two stops at Barron Falls and Red Peak stations. At each stop the friendly Skyrail staff will help you disembark your Gondolas to enjoy the spectacular boardwalks that descend into the pristine rainforest. At the end of your journey, an air-conditioned coach awaits you, to transfer you back to accommodation after an enjoyable day!

10.30am - Arrive Kuranda Railway Station. Arrive Kuranda Railway Station. On arrival, please make your way straight up to the coach parking area. Food, drinks and toilets are only 5 minutes away. Your Driver Guide will meet you and direct you to your coach for your transfer to the village. Browse through the many shops and local markets, which offer a full range of local handicrafts, souvenirs and gifts.
11.00am - Enter Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. Marvel at the largest butterfly flight aviary in the country, with a guided tour through the landscaped gardens. View hundreds of butterflies including the famous electric blue Ulysses and Australia’s largest butterfly, the Cairns Birdwing
11.45am - Meet at Australian Butterfly Sancturary for your transfer to Rainforestation. Your Rainforestation tour includes:
- Menu Lunch. Enjoy a delicious menu selection lunch at Rainforestation's Restaurant in a setting overlooking the rainforest
- Army Duck Rainforest Tour with Tropical Fruit Orchard. Travel deep into the rainforest on both land and water as your guide explains different species of flora and fauna.
- Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience. Watch the Pamagirri Dancers perform in the rainforest amphitheatre, then join the Dreamtime Walk Learn to throw a boomerang and watch
- didgeridoo playing.
- Koala & Wildlife Park. Join a guided tour, and see crocodiles, wombats, snakes, dingoes and a cassowary, and hand feed kangaroos and wallabies. You’ll have the opportunity to have your photo taken cuddling a koala or holding a small crocodile (optional extra).
3.45pm Transfer to Kuranda Skyrail Terminal for your 4.00pm boarding. The 7.5km Skyrail journey takes 30 – 40 minutes, however we recommend you spend time at the two stations enroute: Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station.
5.15pm Your Coach will be at the Freshwater Station to transfer you back to your accommodation. Please tell your Driver Guide if you do not require a transfer
Itinerary for Cairns Northern Beaches & Port Douglas Departures 8.30am - Transfer to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Caravonica Terminal. The 7.5 km journey takes 30–40 minutes, however we recommend you spend time at the two stations enroute: Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station. On arrival in Kuranda, you can catch the free shuttle bus from outside Skyrail or take the short walk into the Kuranda Village.

3.00pm - Transfer to Kuranda Railway Station. Please present this itinerary to Kuranda Railway Station to receive your ticket for the train
3.30pm - Kuranda Scenic Rail departs. The scenic rail journey takes 1 ¾ hours and travels right through to the Freshwater Station. *
5.15pm - Your Coach will be at the Freshwater Station to transfer you back to your accommodation. Please tell your Driver Guide if you do not require a transfer
