Returns 6.30pm

Enjoy a day exploring select highlights of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest including the Bloomfield Track and Emmagen Creek.

Your naturalist guide will pick you up from accommodation in the early morning and drive north from Cairns along the scenic Captain Cook Highway. This stretch of highway which winds along the coast north of Cairns to Port Douglas is one Australia's top scenic drives, carrying you through Port Douglas and on to the emerald green rainforest of the Daintree area. Here lush farmland contrasts with the ocean and seascape as you make your approach to the majestic Daintree River.

On arrival at the river, it’s time for a short morning tea break then its all aboard for an informative river cruise on the Daintree River. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree can offer as you learn of estuarine crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife, viewing nature at its finest. Your guides are Eco Accredited and will be able to give an excellent interpretation of this complex and unique river system.

Cross the Daintree River in your vehicle via the Daintree River Cable Ferry and proceed to ascend the Alexandra Range before pausing for a panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on the elevated 'Jindalba' National Park Boardwalk, where small flowing creeks mingle with World Heritage Listed Rainforest. Accurate interpretations of the region's flora and fauna will be given by your guide with ample time for photographs and questions as you search for a glimpse of the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.

Stop at a local cafe for a menu selection lunch and take a short break before heading up along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek, to enjoy a walk and perhaps take the opportunity to take a refreshing rainforest stream swim. Seek fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a glass of wine or a cup of traditional Billy Tea to enhance the tranquil surroundings.

You will also stop at Cape Tribulation Beach where there is a little time offered to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef'. As the Daintree area is famous for being adjacent to another World Heritage site of equal importance, the Great Barrier Reef. There are few places in the world as significant and with such biodiversity as the Daintree Rainforest.

Time permitting on the way home, there's a stop at Daintree’s hidden secret, the Daintree Ice Cream Factory. Your taste buds will be tantalised with exotic tropical fruit home made ice cream. Sample unique flavours, such as Black Sapote, Soursop, Wattle Seed, Jackfruit, and Coconut just to name a few. All the fruits used to make the ice cream have been locally grown on the property and for as little as $6.00 you can taste up to four different flavours.(price is subject to change without notice).
