The Tour Explore the oldest living rainforest on earth, the 'Daintree Rainforest' with our Daintree & Cape Tribulation Luxury Day Tour with an Upper Daintree River Cruise departing from Daintree Village. Travel in style and comfort whilst being entertained with full interpretation and commentary from your friendly, knowledgeable Naturalist Eco Accredited Guide who will take pride in showing you the region's unique flora, fauna and history, as well as delighting in one of the best Daintree River Cruises going!

Your day starts early, as you are collected from Cairns, Cairns Northern Beaches or Port Douglas accommodation in the morning in a deluxe, custom built, Mercedes touring vehicle; fully air conditioned with forward facing seats and large windows, offering comfort as well as perfect viewing for a day of stunning, ever unfolding panoramas! Traverse the scenic Cook Highway, travelling two and a half hours north from Cairns to Cape Tribulation (the headlands of the Daintree Rainforest) along one of the most scenic coastal roads in Australia!

Enjoy a short tour of Port Douglas, including 4 Mile Beach and Flagstaff Hill before making your way further north to Mossman Gorge, where the clear mountain fed river cuts a gorge through thick, green rainforest, tumbling over large boulders on its journey out to the sea. Here, there's the opportunity to take a short break and stop to savour a morning tea of bush scones with tea & coffee before enjoying a guided walk in the lush tropical rainforest that surrounds Mossman Gorge. There may also be the opportunity to take a swim at Mossman Gorge (seasonal conditions permitting), so please bring your swim suit and a towel (optional).

From Mossman, head north again, to the Daintree Tea House. Enjoy a delicious tropical lunch with a great choice of dishes including pan seared steak, fresh 'wild' barramundi, chicken breast, kangaroo with native peppercorn sauce, vegetarian stir fry; all served with a tropical salad and seasonal tropical fruits, in the ambience of a delightful rainforest setting.

After lunch, it's time to relish one of the day's highlights, a personalised tour on the Daintree River departing from Daintree Village with a unique Upper Daintree River Cruise! Most Daintree Cruise operators cruise the lower, mangrove lined sections of the Daintree River, the Upper Daintree River is the only part of the river that is Rainforest and mangrove lined and as a result, has a greater diversity of bird life and wildlife. From rare birds, flying foxes, an array of bizarre insects and reptiles to electrically coloured, dazzling butterflies to the majestic Cassowary, it’s a verdant and rich rainforest teeming with life from its tall canopy tops to its damp shadowy undergrowth far beneath.

From your wildlife cruise vessel you’ll also see a complex and vibrant river system full of rare fish and waterfowl as you drift through the Daintree’s extensive river systems on the look out for the region’s most famed residents, the giant salt-water (estuarine) crocodile. The Upper Daintree River Cruise from Daintree Village is especially popular for bird watching as it winds its way through dense rainforest and mangroves providing spectacular views out toward Thornton Peak.

Crossing the mighty Daintree River with your vehicle on a cable ferry, you are now entering the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree National Park. This is where it all begins to change, you will feel like you have entered a different world with Rainforest towering over narrow winding roads.

Head north to stop at Alexandra Lookout where you will have to opportunity to take some stunning photographs on the way to Cape Tribulation with breathtaking views towards the Great Dividing Range and the Daintree River mouth out over to Snapper Island & Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef!

On arriving at Cape Tribulation you will experience a guided botanical walk in the Daintree Rainforest and see the region's bio diversity at its best. Other notable sites of interest include the Kulki Lookout and Cape Tribulation Beach, a place that is famous for 'where rainforest meets reef'. Your expert, naturalist guide offers guided rainforest walks through a unique environment of rainforest and mangrove types and species.

Your day even includes a stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company, a popular local stop. With its sweeping vistas and unique tropical flavours, the Daintree Ice Cream Company has become a global icon and is a must stop for visitors to the National Park (purchase of ice cream is optional and at own expense).
