The Cruise

Calypso Reef Charters provides daily reef cruises to the Outer Barrier Reef & World Heritage Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in Queensland, Australia from the Port Douglas Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina in Port Douglas on a daily basis. 

The Calypso fleet of vessels are fast, stable and comfortable; all vessels have large & spacious deck areas with comfortable day bed style seating, large, air-conditioned indoor saloon areas and submerged platforms, extending the width of the vessel which allow for easy access to and from the water.

Specializing in snorkelling and diving, the Calypso Outer Barrier Reef Cruise to the Great Barrier Reef caters for all levels of skill from novice to advanced!  

Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef and admire the colourful coral gardens and a rich, diverse variety of marine like including giant clams, colourful corals and jewel like reef fish! Guests can choose to snorkel only, or upgrad to do Introductory Dving (no licence required) or, Certified SCUBA Diving (licence required). Experienced crew will provide friendly and professional service during the course of your day to ensure that you get the most out of your adventure, exploring the the amazing coral reefs and abundant fish life on the Great Barrier Reef.

The maximum number of passengers carried on each cruise is approximately 70 passengers (which is a small number of passengers when considering the size and level of luxury of the vessels used). Activities available onboard include snorkelling, introductory SCUBA diving and certified diving, or just relaxing onboard.

Enjoy the coral gardens and abundant fish life of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef with interpretive reef talks and guided snorkelling tours. Snorkelling

Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with Calypso Reef Charters, Port Douglas, Australia. Enjoy the wonders of the largest coral reef in the world, snorkelling at three different sites on the outer Great Barrier Reef. The experienced crew will provide friendly and professional service, including snorkelling tuition, a guided snorkel tour and interpretive reef talk. The snorkel groups are small and personalised. All professional supervision and tuition are provided, with a comprehensive snorkelling safety brief and guided snorkel tour. Flotation devices and in water assistance are available for all snorkellers. Even if you have never snorkelled before, the crew will assist any nervous snorkelers and non-swimmers, to ensure that they are happy and comfortable snorkelling in the water. Experience snorkelling with Calypso and explore the amazing coral reefs and abundant marine life of the outer Great Barrier Reef.


Introductory Diving

No experience is necessary to SCUBA dive. While travelling on Calypso to the reef, your PADI Dive Instructor will take you through a Discover Scuba Diving Brief highlighting all safety procedures and skills. Once at the reef you will practice your skills both on the boat and in the water before being taken on a 20 to 30 minute dive with your Instructor to explore spectacular coral reefs with abundant marine life.


Certified Diving 

For Certified Divers we have a great selection of sites where our professional PADI Dive Instructors and Dive Masters will guide you in small groups. Our dive gear includes dive computers and large tanks. You can participate in up to three spectacular dives in one day!

Important Information for Diving
Each diver is required by law to complete a statutory medical declaration form before partaking in any in-water activities. Diving is available to Introductory Divers on successful completion of a Dive Medical Questionnaire. Some medical conditions or medications may prevent you from scuba diving unless a current Queensland Diving Medical Certificate can be shown to the Dive Instructor.

For example: heart disease, asthma, epilepsy or diabetes can preclude safe diving. Please contact us prior to travel should you have any concerns. It is also recommended that divers do not fly within 24 hours of the last dive.

The minimum dive age for Introductory Diving is 12 years of age.  Certified Divers should bring Dive Certification Card or Divers Logbook as proof of certification
