Cairns Ballooning Tour with Skyrail & Kuranda Scenic Train

Your balloon gently floats above the tips of blue gums and paper bark trees, with the wide open spaces of the Tablelands below with fantastic 360 degree views. Your Hot Air pilot is very experienced and trained to Australia's highest standards, so enjoy the freedom of balloon flying while he looks after your safe and gentle ride. Keep an eye out for kangaroos and some of our unique local wildlife as you go. Binoculars are on board to capture sightings of local birdlife too. Come back to earth gently then continue the fun by helping us to pack up the balloon.

After ballooning it is time to board Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for your scenic journey to Kuranda Village, enjoying the two rainforest mid stations and rainforest boardwalks along the route. You’ll arrive into Kuranda Village at approximately 11.30am to enjoy your free time inclusion in Kuranda Village. Board the Kuranda Scenic Train at 3.15pm for a 3.30pm Kuranda Scenic Train departure to carry you back into Cairns (2.00pm Kuranda Scenic Train return is available on request) taking in the spectacular elevated views of the Barron Falls and Barron Gorge before arriving back into Cairns at approximately 5.00pm (you will arrive at an earlier time, from 3.45pm if booking the earlier train departure).

Your day ends with complimentary return transfers to accommodation in Cairns.

5.00 am
Your day begins with a complimentary pick-up at your accommodation hotel by a Hot Air Cairns coach for your special package tour, one hour transfer, pickup times confirmed on making a reservation.

06.30 am
You will experience the fun & unique sensation of hot air ballooning in the Atherton Tablelands, Australia. You take off from Mareeba in the Cairns Highlands (previously called the Atherton Tablelands). Enjoy the picturesque landscape at sunrise and breathe in the wide-open spaces! This operator offers Australia’s largest fleet of balloons and a fun and highly trained crew to maximise the fun of your morning.

8.00 am
Return and Landing, help the crew with ‘balloon pack-up’ and enjoy lots of laughs.

9.00 am
Your Hot Air Balloon tour driver will drop you off to Skyrail Caravonica Station after your morning's Hot Air Balloon flight. Your driver will provide you with your tickets confirming your Skyrail and Train times, 

Board your Skyrail Gondola and travel up along the route, with verdant green Rainforest and spectacular views out over Cairns and the Coral Sea as your make your way up along the Kuranda range. It will take approximately 1 1/2 hours to get from the bottom of the range up to Kuranda Village. There are two stops along the way where you can diembark and explore the rainforest below. The first stop will be at the Red Peak Station where you can take a stroll through the rainforest on the 175mt boardwalk before boarding your next Skyrail to continue above the rainforest to the second stop at the Barron Falls Station. At this stop, you will be able to take a look at the informative interpretive center before continuing on to Kuranda Village. .

11.30 am
Arrive into the Kuranda Skyrail Terminal in Kuranda Village. Once in Kuranda there's plenty of time to enjoy refreshments and a bite to eat and explore the village, The Kuranda Heritage Markets and Kuranda Original Markets are open daily with a variety of arts, crafts & souvenirs on display.

There's also a variety of other attractions including the Birdworld, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary & Koala Gardents as well as a Kuranda River Boat Cruise on the Barron River.

You can take a walk down to the Barron Falls Lookout or continue to explore the village. You have free time and no fixed itinerary, so the choice is yours.

There's an option to return on the 2.00pm or 3.30pm Kuranda Scenic Rail (must be pre booked, though may be changed on the day, subject to availability). The spectacular journey comprises of unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls. This famous railway winds its way on a journey of approximately 1 & ¾ hours from Kuranda to Freshwater Heritage Station in Cairns. 

4.00pm or 5.30pm
Arrive into Cairns Central Station at the end of the day at 4.00pm (ex the 2.00pm Train) or 5.30pm (ex the 3.30pm Train) and make own way back to accommodation.
