Cairns Ballooning & Green Island In A Day - 1 Day Package

The Tour Cairns and Tropical North Queensland is the hot air ballooning capital of the world! Hot Air ballooning here is a must do and truly, one of the region's most scenic activities.

Your day starts with an early monring coach transfer from Cairns City or Cairns Northern Beaches accommodation for a meet and greet, prior to travelling up along the Kuranda Range to reach the ballooning grounds near Mareeba, on the Atherton Tablelands. Start your flight by watching the sun rise over the rolling hills of the majestic Tablelands then experience the wonder, silence and romance of floating in a hot air balloon. From above on high, you will enjoy the 360 degree panorama, with a half hour flight before coming gently back to earth.

Following your Hot Air ballooning experience, you will be transferred to the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal for your Green Island Adventure. Your ferry departs from Cairns at 10.30am with a short 45 minute transfer to Green Island.

Your day on Green Island can be as active or relaxing as you choose with 5 hours to enjoy on the island. You’ll package includes the choice of snorkelling equipment, allowing you to snorkel directly from the sandy white beaches around the island or a glass bottom boat coral viewing tour with fun and informative commentary, around the coral bomboras that surround the island. Green Island is a 6000 year old coral cay, unique to the Great Barrier Reef. You can even decide to upgrage to do additional activities once on the island, including a Boat Snorkel Tour, Introductory or Certified Diving and Seawalking, which are all available to book at the Green Island's Dive Shop!

As a guest of Great Adventures, you’ll also be able to enjoy many exclusive inclusions such as the use of the island's resort swimming pool, take a self guided eco island walk around the rainforest timber boardwalks that criss cross the island, allowing you to discover some of the island’s unique rainforest flora. The island’s well-appointed day visitor facilities include a pool bar, restaurant, changerooms and refreshment outlets where you can purchase a delicious lunch, snacks and drinks. There is even an aquarium at Green Island, Marine Land Melanesia which is well worth a visit. The Aquarium boasts an impressive array of rare, historical photos of Green Island and Cairns' early days!

At the end of the day, you have a choice to return on the 2.30pm Ferry Departure Time (arrives back into Cairns at 3.30pm) or the last boat to leave the island for the day, the 4.30pm Ferry (arrives back into Cairns at 5.30pm).

Important Booking Notes: Package includes coach transfers from accommodation to Ballooning and a drop off at the Reef Fleet Terminal to check-in at the Great Adventures Counter for the Green Island tour.  However, at the end of the Green Island tour, guests  can choose to make own way back to accommodation at the end of the day  - or - can choose to book the package with a return coach transfer back to Cairns City - or - Cairns Northern Beaches Accommodation.

Ballooning Insurance Levy amount is payable to Ballooning Operator prior to ballooning tour on morning of departure and Government Reef Tax amount is payable to Reef Operator on check-in at check-in counter prior to departure.

Hot Air Ballooning Conditions:

- General Mobility: It is a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and company requirement that passengers must be able to climb into the basket unaided, so that in the event of an emergency passengers are also able to climb out of the basket unaided.
- Medical Conditions: Passengers with medical conditions should check their suitability to fly prior to booking. The Ballooning Operator recommends that pregnant persons do not fly in a hot air balloon.
- The Ballooning Operator will not carry passengers who have participated in a scuba dive the day (24 hours) before their balloon flight.
