The Tour

Witness the diverse landscapes of Tropical North Queensland, crossing rich tropical rainforests and agricultural fields on the Atherton Tablelands into the Gulf Savannah Plains of the Outback.

At the beginning of the day you will venture south from Cairns through Gordonvale then onto the Tablelands via the Gillies Highway. You will visit Lake Barrine, a stunning freshwater crater lake surrounded by emerald green rainforests. Enjoy a Devonshire Morning Tea at Lake Barine Tea House overlooking the lake’s stunning vista. A fully guided cruise on Lake Barrine will show you the lake’s diverse wildlife including turtles, birdlife, fish, lizards and perhaps even a tree python as well as viewing the ancient twin Kauri Pines. You will also get the chance to stop at the Curtain Fig Tree, one of the largest rainforest strangler figs in the world! From here its off to see Millaa Millaa Falls, the falls are of a significant height with a pool suitable for swimming is at their base and will provide you with an unforgettable photo opportunity. Visit Windy Hill energy farm where you can view the towering turbines built to harness the breeze and create clean green energy. Further along the route it is time to visit Woodleigh Cattle Station, experience the real Australian outback with a BBQ Lunch and an exclusive guided tour of the pioneer homestead by the family of its original settlers. At Halloran’s Hill Lookout you can enjoy panoramic views from the highest point in Atherton and view the Tablelands from far and wide. A visit to Mount Uncle Distillery will allow you to sample local produce and liqueurs at this agricultural farm on the Tablelands, before returning to Cairns via the scenic Kuranda Range.
