The Tour
Day 1 Board MV Trinity Bay at Cairns Trinity Wharf at 02:00pm to begin
your exciting sea voyage through the Great Barrier Reef to Cape York at the
top of Australia.
Day 2 Sunrise at Cape Melville on the way to the remote Aboriginal community
of Lockhart River to unload cargo. Pass by Restoration Island, named by Captain
Bligh, his first landfall following the Mutiny on the Bounty and continue passed
sand cays, coral reefs and deserted tropical islands.
Day 3 Albany Passage this morning before rounding Cape York en route
to Thursday Island. An opportunity to take a tour (optional) of the island then
cruise to Seisia on the mainland.
Day 4 Your guide will meet you in Seisia to begin your 4WD camping safari
at Punsand Bay.
Day 5 At Somerset we journey into the past with our explorers, pioneers
and Cape York's original inhabitants. An emotional afternoon when we stand at
the top of Australia - Cape York!
Day 6 A free day to soak up this idyllic atmosphere. Relax at the beach
or by the pool, or take your bird book and binoculars for a bushwalk.
Day 7 South into Cape York's wilderness along the Telegraph Track. Across
the Jardine River and on to Indian Head Falls where you can swim in its pristine
spring-fed waters. Camp and dine in the wilderness tonight with millions of
stars for company.
Day 8 More 4WD adventure on Cape York's rugged Telegraph Track. Cross
rivers and creeks, swim and relax, and see prehistoric palms, giant termite
mounds and carnivorous plants. Camp at Archer River tonight.
Day 9 Coen, then on to historic telegraph station of Musgrave. Explore
Lakefield National Park's waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and great variety
of birdlife. Camp in Lakefield National Park.
Day 10 At Split Rock, climb a sandstone escarpment (reasonable fitness
and suitable footwear required to) to view ancient Aboriginal "Quinkan"
rock art. Visit eerie Black Mountain on the way to historic Cooktown. Walk where
Captain Cook walked, enjoy Grassy Hill's spectacular views and relive the goldrush
days strolling through Cooktown.
Day 11 Visit the quaint Lion's Den Hotel before 4WD adventure on the
Bloomfield Track (weather permitting) into the rainforest at Daintree and Cape
Tribulation. Cross at Daintree River by cable ferry and travel onto Cairns,
completing your incredible adventure and achievement in Australia's far north
