The Tour
Day 1 West over the Great Dividing Range via Palmer River to "Quinkan
Country" near Laura, an outback landscape of termite mounds and cattle
stations. Climb the sandstone escarpment to Split Rock (reasonable fitness,
suitable footwear and water bottle required) to view ancient Aboriginal rock
art depicting life and customs here thousands of years ago. After lunch we travel
to Annan River Gorge and historic Cooktown.
Day 2 This morning you'll walk where Captain Cook walked, touch the sand
where the "Endeavour" was beached, enjoy the spectacular view from
atop Grassy Hill and visit the James Cook Museum. Visit Black Mountain and the
Lion's Den Hotel before 4WD adventure on the Bloomfield Track to the rainforests
of Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Your guide will check you in to your rainforest
resort and explain nearby self-guided activities available. The remainder of
the afternoon and evening is yours to relax and enjoy.
Day 3 A relaxed morning before being pickup up to travel to our exclusive
"Riverhouse" hideaway for lunch in the rainforest. Later, board your
riverboat to cruise on secluded mangrove lined jungle creeks, an excellent chance
to see crocodiles in the wild! A cable ferry across the Daintree River and on
to Mossman Gorge for a light refreshment and an opportunity for a refreshing
swim. A leisurely drive to Port Douglas or Cairns completes your safari of adventure,
discovery… and fun!
