Facts & Travel Tips

Thank you for deciding to join us on our 3 Day Rock Art & Rainforest 4WD Safari … we hope it will be an enjoyable and memorable experience. Below are some facts and travel tips which may help in your planning and allow us all to minimise our impact on this wonderful natural environment.

Commence: We will pick you up at your accommodation in Cairns from 7:00am or Port Douglas from 8:30am.

Terminate: We will drop you at your accommodation in Port Douglas at about 4:00pm or Cairns at about 5:00pm.

What to wear and bring: Casual clothing is a must to be both comfortable and practical. You'll need footwear with ankle support and good grip soles, and a pair of sandals/thongs, as well as personal toiletries, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimwear and insect repellent. Don't forget your camera, spare film or memory card and batteries and a water bottle. A torch is recommended.

Luggage: For this safari you will only need an overnight bag and as luggage space is limited please restrict this to one small SOFT travel bag (300mm x 300mm x 700mm) and a small daypack (cabin baggage). Any excess luggage you may have can usually be stored safely at your hotel until you return.

En-Route: Our first day is full of great experiences - we’ll cover about 450km including the Daintree rainforest and 4WD Bloomfield Track, and a 4WD cattle station track into our safari camp. Our second day is spent exploring the rock art galleries of Jowalbinna, where good footwear is important. On Day 3 it's about 450kms via the inland road to return to Cairns. There will be opportunities to purchase water along the way.

Please note: In the event that the Bloomfield Track is closed or considered dangerous due to weather or other safety considerations all tours must travel via the inland road. This will eliminate the Day 1 inclusions of the Daintree Rainforest, Cassowary conservation and Bloomfield Falls walk, however every effort will be made to visit the World Heritage rainforest on Day 3.

Accommodation: Bush cabins with two single beds each. Bed linen and towel provided. Share bathroom and toilet facilities.
