Itinerary
Day 1 West over the Great Dividing Range via Palmer River to "Quinkan Country" near Laura, an outback landscape of termite mounds and cattle stations. Climb the sandstone escarpment to Split Rock (reasonable fitness, suitable footwear and water bottle required) to view ancient Aboriginal rock art depicting life and customs here thousands of years ago. After lunch we travel on past Annan River Gorge to historic Cooktown, our overnight stop.
Day 2 This morning you'll walk where Captain Cook walked, touch the sand where the "Endeavour" was beached, enjoy the spectacular view from atop Grassy Hill and visit the James Cook Museum. Visit Black Mountain and the Lion's Den Hotel before 4WD adventure on the Bloomfield Track to the rainforests of Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Now across the Daintree River by cable ferry to Port Douglas or Cairns ending your adventure in Australia's Far North.
