Kuranda Village is a quaint little township in the rainforest, situated where both Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic journeys terminate. Kuranda Village is famous for arts and crafts and indigenous artefacts and the excellent attractions of the Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Aviary. The Original Kuranda Markets are held Wednesdays, Thursdays, Friday and Sunday. Heritage Markets open daily.

The best value for money is the Kuranda Train and Skyrail Budget Tour. This tour includes return Cairns City based hotel / accommodation transfers, your choice of Scenic Train departure times; 8.30am or 9.30 am - with a choice of Skyrail departure / return times from Kuranda Village back into Cairns 1.00pm and 3.00pm respectively.

The Kuranda Scenic Train will take approximately 1 ½ from boarding in Cairns until arriving / disembarking in at the Kuranda Station in Kuranda Village. Likewise with the Skyrail, a trip down from Kuranda Village to disembarkation point at Caravonica Skryrail Station (15 minutes drive from the north to the south and back into Cairns) will take approximately 1 ½ hours. This includes plenty of free time for you along the route, to enjoy two stops at the Skyrail Rainforest Mid-Stations / Boardwalks as you make your way down.

This excursion will allow passengers the option to purchase/ pay the admission to do additional activities in Kuranda Village, as activities can be quite easily organized once you arrive into Kuranda Village. The town is quite small and everything is very closely located in relation to the Train and Skyrail Terminals which are set side-by-side.

You can add the (optional) addition of a visit to Tjapukai Theatre by choosing the 8.30am Train departure time and the 1.00pm Skyrail return time. This will see you arrive at the bottom of Skyrail with a 2.30pm entry into Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and Theatre. This combination will allow you three full hours free time in Kuranda Village to have lunch, explore and enjoy Kuranda Village at your own leisurely pace with approximately 2 ½ hours free time at Tjapukai Theatre.

There’s also the option to upgrade to Kuranda Scenic Rail’s ‘Gold Class’ Carriage with extra comfort and luxury, offering a special rail journey for the discerning traveller. The upgrade offers a dedicated host service, individual seating on movable tub style chairs, an ambient historical décor with quality refreshments and appetisers including beer, sparkling wine or still wine all served along the route whilst you enjoy the wonders of the Barron Gorge National Park.
