The Island
It's what you don't see around heron that makes this Great Barrier Reef island so special. You won't see any buildings above the tree line and you won't bump into any day trippers. The reef experience is exclusively for guests. On Heron the emphasis is on enjoying natural beauty. Here you can explore the reef, encounter extraordinary marine life and discover the attractions that have made Heron famous around the globe - like some of the best diving in the world.

Being right on the Great Barrier Reef has always given Heron the advantage over other resorts. Most are continental shelf islands made of rock and stone and in some cases up to 70 kilometres from the reef. Heron is made of coral, and this makes it the first choice for tourists, nature lovers, researchers and divers from around the world. On Heron you walk straight from the beach to the reef edge and the waters are literally teeming with life.

It's the casual island life that sets Heron apart from other island resorts. There are no marble fountains or bronze statues. There are no lifts to catch or keys to lose. And whilst other islands make you pay, on Heron all meals are included in your tariff.

Forget telephones and television. You'll find them on the island, but not in your room. Stress is replaced by a sense of adventure and your days are filled with discovery. At night there's live entertainment, dancing or just a quiet drink at Baillie's Bar.

Conference Centre
The Wistari Room seats up to 120 in airconditioned comfort and features the latest in presentation equipment. Meeting and incentive groups are our speciality and a conference coordinator is on staff to make sure everything runs smoothly. Secretarial, phone and facsimile facilities are available, and if any specialist requirements are advised, these can be organised from the mainland.
