The Course
Deep Sea Divers Den have been operating in Cairns for over 25 years, making them one of the longest established Dive Centers in Cairns. Their training facilities are under one roof, which is one of the many reasons they have also earned their PADI 5 star Instructor Development Centre status.
Deep Sea Divers Den’s friendly and personalized service allow them to offer one of the best learn to dive courses available in Cairns. They employ many bilingual PADI diving instructors with English, German and Japanese courses available.
The Budget Course option is designed for the traveler who is short of time and wants to learn to dive for the best possible price. This option does not allow for the opportunity to overnight on the reef (so your own land based accommodation is necessary for this course). On completion of your 4 PADI certification dives you will get the opportunity to do one 'fun dive' (time permitting). Deep Sea Divers Den's friendly, personalized service, combined with the warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, are the perfect combination for one of the very best PADI 4 day Open Water courses available. This dive course is ideal for the budget conscious traveler or those with time constraints.
The first 2 days of your course are spent learning the theory behind diving and learning new skills in the safety and comfort of their diver training pool.
This is followed by a 2 separate day excursions to select sites on the Outer Barrier Reef aboard the fast, modern, purpose built catamaran, Reef Quest. Each day your will complete the 2 PADI training dives aboard the vessel with lunch included as well as the option to do a little snorkeling.

For multiple dives you should not fly/go to altitude for at least 18 hours.
We recommend waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible. These are guidelines only; there is no guarantee that these recommendations will prevent decompression sickness. Currently there are no guidelines regarding diving after flying.
Altitude is 300m/1000ft above sea level.
This includes going to the Atherton Tablelands, so be careful when you are booking tours to follow your dive course/trip.
