The Cruise

Passions of Paradise II is a brand new 25 metre maxi-catamaran designed to travel to the Great Barrier Reef in comfort, style and speed. Outfitted with the latest cutting edge technology, Passions of Paradise II has awesome sailing capabilities, and in the right conditions is faster than most powered vessels.

Guests travel on a daily basis to two fantastic destinations. The first is on the famed Outer Barrier Reef where Passions of Paradise II has its own exclusive mooring, and the second being Michaelmas Cay- a fragile and unique ecosystem of brilliant white sand and warm shallow water. A day of "Passion" includes lunch, all snorkeling equipment optional introductory and certified Scuba Diving and the thrill of sailing on a thoroughbred machine/

Breaking Patches (the first destination) is approximately 40 kilometres and 2 hours from Cairns. This is where they have an exclusive marine park mooring called Paradise Reef and with no other boats near by, there is never a crowd, and the coral is pristine. Paradise Reef is ideal for both Introductory and Certified Diving and the snorkelling is up close and personal.

The next stop is Michaelmas Cay. This is a gorgeous little speck of pure coral sand, surrounded by reef and warm shallow water. Here you’ll see migrating seabirds (Michealmas is one of the largest seabird rookeries in the Southern Hemisphere and so usage of the cay is highly restricted, meaning the coral reef stays protected and well preserved) stingrays, many coloured reef fish, giant clams and lots of shells!

The crew will serve you a fantastic Tropical Smorgasboard Lunch and assist you in every way to ensure that you enjoy all your in-water activities. On the way home, with the sails up, it’s time to sail! When the wind blows, you get to go fast (12 to 14 knots is common in strong winds)! If the wind is light, then you get to sail at a more relaxed pace. And of course – there is the "Glass Bottom" bar, (ask the crew about the name!), fully stocked for a refreshing drink after a hard day on the Great Barrier Reef.

Glass Bottom Boat Tour (Optional)

For those passengers who wish to see the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and not get wet, the company has recently built a custom designed glass bottom tender. Carrying small numbers of no more than 14 passengers, a 30 minute glass bottom tour of both reef destinations is available daily.
