Tuesday - Day One: Pick up from Cairns Accommodation at 5.00pm and transfer to Taka which departs from Cairns Harbour and travels over the smooth waters inside the Great Barrier Reef up to the Cod Hole. Please remove space
Wednedsay – Day Two: Taka arrives at the Cod Hole at approx 9 am. Our second dive at the Cod Hole is the Cod Feed, where huge schools of fish and Maori Wrasses compete with the large family of Potato Cod for a fish dinner. This would have to be one of the world's premier dive experiences. After the second dive we move down the Ribbon Reefs to one of our many select dive locations for an afternoon dive and later a night dive.
Thursday - Day Three: This day is spent diving the Ribbon Reefs at various locations that we have chosen for their diversity of marine life and architecture. You will see giant clams up to 2 metres across, huge coral gardens, swim throughs and an abundance of marine life unmatched anywhere on this planet. 3 day dives and a night dive.
Friday - Day Four: We do 2 dives on this day, as we are now nearing the end of our trip. These dives are on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef and feature unique coral formations and fish life. Taka then cruises through the reefs arriving back into Cairns at approx 3.30 pm.
The Vessel
The BRAND NEW "Taka" has been launched, and has arrived in Cairns. The new, all purpose dive vessel is a 30 metre purpose built dive boat that shall be like nothing currently available to explore remote dive sites. After doing over 1000 trips with Taka II, we have used that knowledge to build a Hi-Tech dive vessel that has more room, more comfort and more features than ever before. The vessel has a unique stabilised hull design to smooth out those Coral Sea trips, as well as features like bow and stern thrusters for safe manoeuvring while getting our divers as close to the reef as possible. The electronics package for navigation and entertainment is second to none, and the overall design philosophy is one of greater comfort through larger cabins and lounges along with higher levels of service and catering. The new vessel was launched on December 11th 2003.
