The Tour
Day One

You will be collected by air-conditioned four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle from accommodation. Travel north along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives towards the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park. You will cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and journey through this spectacular example of Mother Nature, which contains the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened by extinction.

Your experienced tour guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history as you continue on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track. This will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia, crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges along the route. Stop for Lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel, North Queensland’s oldest running bush pub. After lunch continue to visit the unique geological oddity, Black Mountain, which is surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend.

As you arrive into Cooktown you will have a 360 degree view from Grassy Hill showcasing the spectacular vista of the Endeavour River and Cooktown, have your camera ready!

Overnight in Cooktown.

Day Two

The day is free for you to explore Cooktown at your own pace. You can visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The main street has a charming and historical atmosphere, which still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770.

Alternately, you also have the opportunity to take an *optional tour with Nugal-warra Aboriginal Elder, Willie Gordon and visit his traditional lands and rock art sites.

In the late afternoon you’ll depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, traveling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations including the Palmer River Gold Mine region which is a fascinating part of the Outback of Far North Queensland. Arrive into Cairns at approximately 8.30pm to be dropped off at accommodation.

Guurrbi Tours - Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour 7.45am – 1.15pm $120.00 per adult $90.00 per child

An early start today as you will be collected from your accommodation by Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon, for a half day Rainbow Serpent Tour. Willie will be taking you to visit the rock art sites on his traditional country outside Hope Vale Aboriginal Community. The Rainbow Serpent Tour takes you through a dramatic landscape to six rock art sites, including an Ancestral Birth Cave and the Reconciliation Cave. Wear comfortable walking shoes today as you’ll be walking through Willie’s country.
