A compact safari combining the excitement of a cargo ship voyage between Cairns and Cape York with the amenity of a Cape York stop over. In a style reminiscent of bygone coastal steamers, experience the colour and serenity of a Barrier Reef voyage, the magic of the Torres Strait, the magnificent isolation of the northern Peninsula wilderness. Day 1 - Friday (D) Depart Cairns, M.V ’Trinity Bay’
Early afternoon pickup from your Cairns accommodation. At 80 metres and over 3000 tonnes the Trinity Bay is the largest cargo vessel servicing the Straits and the only vessel of its type to carry passengers.
Day 2 - Saturday (BLD) Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
Total relaxation as you enjoy the company of the crew and new shop board companions.
Day 3 - Sunday (BLD) Thursday Island, Horn Island
‘Barge Day’. The focus of all attention today are the wharves on Thursday & Horn Islands, as the MV Trinity Bay disgorges its cargo of fuel, building materials, indeed everything needed by these remote island communities. Time to explore legendary old Thursday Island. Optional tours of Thursday & Horn Islands available which you can book onboard MV Trinity Bay.
Day 4 – Monday (B) Seisia, Bamaga
Another ‘barge day’ but at Seisia wharf, the sea port for Bamaga's five Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Take an optional 4wd tour to visit the very Top of Cape York and mainland Australia. Two night’s accommodation at Resort Bamaga (ensuite facilities).
Day 5 – Tuesday Free Day, Bamaga
Optional activities. Relax at your accommodation facility or check out what activities are available, fishing, car hire, beach walks, browse at local shops. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 6 – Wednesday Bamaga To Cairns
Morning free at leisure before transfer to Bamaga (Injinoo) Airport (transfer included in fare). Board your flight to Cairns for an inspiring overview of the vast peninsula wilderness and coastline. On arrival into Cairns transfer back to your accommodation.
Notes: All optional tours are coordinated by your MV Trinity Bay Purser onboard.

Air carrier Bamaga to Cairns is Qantas Link or Regional Pacific. Check-in is 45min prior to departure. An in-flight snack is served. Flight time is 1 hr 45min.
Alcohol Management Plans took effect in the northern peninsula area from 1st December 2003, which affects what alcohol you can take into these areas. Resort Bamaga and MV Trinity Bay are licensed.
